Apple’s iPhone 5 to get a thinner screen!
Apple Inc’s iPhone 5 is all set to sport a thinner screen after bringing a front-facing high-definition camera and a new processor from the A5 range.
Amidst intensifying competition from South Korean Samsung Electronics, Asian component manufacturers for Apple are bringing liquid-crystal-display thin screen. Japanese Sharp Corp and Display Inc. are currently mass producing display panels for the Californian phonemaker giant using in-cell technology.
How will the screen grow thin? The new technology will integrate touch sensors into the LCD, eliminating a separate touch-screen layer. The effect is display thickness reduced by half a millimetre and enhancing the image quality on the screen.
Apple has already hinted at a screen size of 4-inch display. Last month a faster processor from the A5 family with a high-definition front-facing camera. The new iPhone 5 will come with 1GB of RAM on board. The rear camera will stay at eight megapixels and the overall design is reduced by 8mm.
Apple has been urging it’s LCD partners to rapidly develop the in-touch screens, which are more time consuming in terms of manufacturing. Conventional LCD panels are easier to produce. Samsung is leading the smartphone market with it’s unique organic light-emitting displays and has made it a peculiar feature of it’s line of Galaxy smartphones. The latest from the Samsung stable creating waves is the Galaxy S III which sports a 4.8-inch OLED display and is thinner than the latest iPhone.
The latest iPhone 5 is expected this fall and hopes to compete with Galaxy S III, which has shown record-breaking phenomenal sales after it’s launch in May.
