Apple might be looking to do away the aluminum glass body of iPhone 5 in its successor
Cheaper iPhone rumours have emerged yet again as Apple CEO, Tim Cook, tries to appease the shareholders amidst falling share prices of the company. Recent speculations suggest that Apple is shedding the glass and aluminum body of iPhone and using polycarbonate to develop the successor to iPhone 5.
The polycarbonate will increase the durability of the device when compared to the previous models. Rumours coming from a Japanese blog suggest that the device is scheduled for a 2014 release. Recent speculations hint that the new iPhone will feature a 4.5-inch screen, but will continue with the existing design of the device.
Apple is reportedly looking at a price of US$330 for the next iPhone, though it cannot be confirmed whether that is the unsubsidised price or not. The California firm is apparently looking to add a dual-flash LED module to the back of the next iPhone to assist image capturing. The flash exposures are rumored to placed on top of one another.
Apple CEO, Tim Cook, had stated in a shareholder meeting that the firm is working on new categories of products. With Apple looking to diversify, cheaper iPhone would be the right way to start, as the device could garner sales in the emerging markets, which is predominant with cut-throat competition.
Rumours about the Apple developing a TV set have also been circulating in the market along with the development of a wrist-watch like device. With the polycarbonate body, the next iPhone is also rumoured to be thicker than the iPhone 5. What do you think about the US$330 iPhone?
