In a first, Vodafone has launched the Operator billing for all its Android customers in UK and Germany. Operator billing means that it will not be necessary for the customers to pay via their credit cards while purchasing the apps from Android market. Instead they can add the cost of apps to their phone bills pre paid account.
It’s a significant offer considering that a sizeable amount of customers either do not want to pay via credit cards for various reasons, or are unable to pay. Adding the cost of apps that they download from the Android market, to their monthly bills will simplify the process by removing any reservations they have over providing their credit card number.
The offer will be all the more effective, when launched in other countries. Experts believe that in some of the countries, this may constitute around 90% of the market.
Vodafone said that the service will be initially available to those Android users who have purchased their Android devices from the network’s channels. The network also said this offer will increase the likelihood of purchase of Android apps by the users.
The offer that has already rolled out in the UK and the Germany market, is expected to be introduced in other European countries as well.
